CAMP RECIPES

These are some recipes from my future (way in the future) book "Travels to Tioga."

One of the funnest parts of a camping trip is figuring out what you are going to eat while you are there. Making lists, shopping for ingredients, preparing the ingredients gets the party started days before you head up. The recipes shared here are tried and true from many years of camping at Tioga Pass. Some are passed down from my mother and others I have come up with over the years. There are favorites adapted from Sunset Magazine and other sources which will be noted. The best camp meals are simple ones that can be made relatively quickly, with as few pans and utensils as possible That way clean up will be a quicker chore. One thing is for sure: being at ten thousand feet makes a person hungrier than they normally would be!

STEAK & SPRING VEGETABLE SKILLET DINNER

This recipe is adapted from Bon Apetite for easy camp cooking and assembly. It comes together pretty quickly and without a lot of mess. Quite satisfying too.
